When: Wednesday, July 28th
Time: 12:00pm CST
Cost: FREE

360 Neuro Health Co-Founder and vestibular specialist, Bridgett Wallace, PT, DPT talks with Dr. Newstead, an American Physical Therapy Association Certified Clinical Specialist in both a Neurology and Geriatrics. She is also a certified Vestibular Physical Therapist and a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (CEEAA). They will discuss what inspired Dr. Newstead to pursue these two areas of specialty as well as venture into vestibular rehabilitation.

In addition to Dr. Newstead providing continuing education on balance, vestibular, concussion, geriatrics, and ethics, she has also taught motivational interviewing (MI).

What is MI and how can it help influence patient behavior?

Motivational interviewing is a refined form of the familiar process of guiding.1 In learning what to listen for, each consultation with patients becomes an opportunity for learning because the patient is giving us feedback on how well (and, sometimes, not so well) we are doing. This feedback can help us choose our communication style. For example, does our language need to be directing, guiding, or following? The skilled practitioner in motivational interviewing, or MI, is not only flexible in these various styles between different patients but with the same patient — even in the same visit.

Dr. Newstead will discuss the top takeaways/strategies regarding core skills for motivational interviewing.

We look forward to seeing you there 🙂

Recording will be available for later viewing.
